A Sense of Place - Interpreting the Environment
“Interpretation is primarily a communication process that
helps people make sense of, and understand more about, your site, collection
or event.”
Association for Heritage Interpretation
Cinnabar can provide you with a range of original interpretative media
that will bring your site to life and
communicate its distinctive qualities,
whether that be to a general or more specialised audience. We encourage
experimentation, e.g. incorporating arts based interpretation, while
not losing site of the targeted audiences’ needs.
“The real test is that your visitors go away with some new
thoughts and ideas: which means that there are as many ways of interpreting
somewhere as there are people who visit it!”
A Sense of Place – Scottish Tourism and Environment Initiative
Cinnabar can research, plan, monitor and evaluate projects covering both the built and natural environment; that is, habitats, wildlife, buildings, archaeological and historic sites, access projects (town trails, cycleways) and ... people! We work with subject specialists and artists, graphic designers and manufacturers to produce the most appropriate interpretative materials for your site.
We will be happy to discuss methodology, appropriate media, options
and creative approaches at a no fee exploratory site visit. Cinnabar
can manage the whole process whether that be providing and siting a simple
interpretation board or planning, enacting and evaluating a complete
interpretative package.
Let’s innovate!
Cinnabar has experience of developing interpretation panels, leaflets, themed educational packs, events, artworks and interactive trails and in providing for special needs groups. We aim to provide interpretation that is appropriate, long lasting, relevant, imaginative and enjoyable, and site-sensitive, involving local communities whenever possible.
